SHELLEY HIRSCH is one of the most acclaimed and celebrated avant-garde vocalists today, known for her fiercely unconventional singing techniques, intriguing and compelling storytelling, fascinating improvisations, and unforgettable stage performances.
The NYC-based singer and composer has released recordings on
John Zorn’s Tzadik label and has collaborated with a “Who’s Who” list of contemporary artists, including Derek Bailey, Elliott Sharp, Ikue Mori, Marc Ribot, Christian Marclay, and Fred Frith, to name a few.
Hirsch is acknowledged as a truly singular artist, a lightning-fast vocal chameleon with the ability to be humorous and playful while tackling her powerful material. She will perform solo pieces and as part of an improvising trio including the Shaking Ray Levis from Chattanooga.
