This class will introduce you to the world of zines. A zine (pronounced “zeen”) is a self-published book which is often cheaply produced in small editions. People all over the world make zines and have for many years. Zines can be about anything and anyone can make them.

You will see a variety of zines, learn a little about the history and culture of zines, and you’ll get to make a zine of your own.

We will provide:

  • paper
  • glue sticks
  • x-acto knives and cutting mats
  • stapler, staples
  • some magazines and books to cut up
  • coffee & breakfast!

You should bring:

  • an idea for your own zine!
  • scissors
  • additional text and imagery (magazines, books, etc.) for your zine
  • any other special materials you might want to use (glitter? googly eyes?)

Each participant will make a zine and receive a zine from your classmates.
